Because people were people, and if there was one thing you could count on, it was that some of them would be weird. Or rather that all of them would be weird when circumstances happened to align with their own individual brand of insanity.

Looks fun. Wish I was there.

How was the water temp this year? Looked like it would be cool based on what I saw on the news down here last week...
I have nothing more to say about that.

Not as bad as I was expecting, but I only went knee deep. I was told that it was quite chili once you got past that.

OMG am I tired. It has been a long few weeks between work and other things. I never really felt I caught up on my rest before this week came.

That being said. I had a great time and I am glad we had such a good day. I am glad that plenty of people came and that everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves. That is all we try to accomplish. Big thanks to eitje to snap a bunch of shots from the live stream which is a cool perspective.

Here is to next year!!

Rolled in to the cottage around 8:30 AM to pick up the cooler. The only people stirring were Damage & Jr. Damage, prepping for their 12-hour ride home. Gleek & JBI finally awoke and looked like they'd continued the beach discussions long after I left (right after fireworks).

To those who advocate Micro Center I can now whole-heartedly agree. Stopped in the one in the Cleveland 'burbs on my way here to Erie, PA. Picked up a barebones set (i7-4790K, ASUS Z97-A, Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x8GB) for $40 under Newegg pricing and $60 under Tigerdirect pricing. The way I look at it, the upgrade from i5 to i7 cost $40 to $60 compared to the actual $100 price difference between the two CPUs. Now to get this stuff in the house without being noticed.

Got home about 2 hours ago. What a terrific event; it's great to get together and talk to the people from the forums (and their various family members and friends) in person. The ribs were to die for!! I got knocked out in the first round of the tournament (no surprise there, I suck at that game). Also greatly enjoyed sharing the various local micro-brews that people brought from their home turf.

Notes to self regarding the beer tasting - bringing the extra table to set open bomber bottles on was a great idea, but I need to bring more tasting cups next time. Oh, and gleek needs to learn how to pace things and save the stronger stuff for later instead of cracking open 9-10% ABV beers before we've even had lunch!

Why do you think I alternated 1 beer, 1 water bottle.

I can't believe Inkling got taken out by a 7 year old... :P

Back to the cottage after trips to Borculo, Sturgis, and Grand Rapids to return friends, nephews and visit Ellie and Stacy. Normally I'm not the one traveling after the BBQ, wow does that add to the adventure, 250 miles, yow...

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this a success again! As always special thanks to Kelli for feeding everyone, we can never thank you enough. Image

I'll have another big batch of photos posted tomorrow that my sister and her boyfriend took, lots of good stuff in there.

Now I'm going home and straight to bed. :o

Made it home about 90 minutes ago. Long drive, but we made good time.

Thanks again to everybody for another amazing BBQ. I'll have a wrap-up post tomorrow, but I'm gonna crash now.

Oh, do we have a copy of the official group photo yet? (The timer one.)

I'm uploading 1.25GB of photos now. I'll post a link to the group shot directly once it's up. I think I counted 41 people in the photo and we figure somewhere around 6-8 others that weren't in it for some reason or another.

Edit: Pics are all up!

BTW the guy Ned wash showing off the spudinator to, was ME. The shirt is a gift from the wife... (Nerdy by Nature) :D

Other notes:
It was interesting to see that the beach was only about 6 feet wide this time compared to the 30 or so feet from last year.
The wife managed to twist her ankle on the 2" inch lip from the grass to the sidewalk leading to the beach. Her father told her to wear hiking boots next time she comes out. :D
Food was awesome as usual I'm wondering if next time I come out I should bring the fixings for fried rice. :D

Hope to come back out again next year.

Wow! I had no idea that area was so dangerous, first Frobozz and now her. I'm sorry to hear that! Did anyone ask Gleek if he had his walker handy?
