I wonder why suicide seems so common among those who have unique comedic talent. Maybe it is just me being paranoid, but some of the funniest guys out there off themselves.

Loved his comedy and his dramatic stuff.

So sad.

I was not the biggest fan of Robin but he will be missed. I think his 2 best performances were Good Morning Vietnam and the Psychologist role he played in Good Will Hunting....Its Not your fault....ETC. I was not a biog fan of his pure comedy roles as much as his drama roles mixed with comedy like GMVietnam. Yeats I and my wife thought What Dreams May Come was a decent movie worth watching and we will probably also watch it soon at 60FPS in 1080p HD with SVP and MADVR since I have never seen it in HD so the picture and colors should pop compared to DVD which is what I watched it on originally many many years ago

He will be missed he was just getting to the age where he could have started playing the funny grandfather role in plenty of movies replacing people like the late Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon who i thought were hilarious in the Grumpy and grumpier old men movies.

Off to find The Fisher King on Netflix or RedBox.

This one hurts and hurts deeply.

Shazbot!!

I'm sorry Orson, but Mork has left the building.

Nanu Nanu.

It's sad that someone who gave us so much through his art is gone. Fortunately, his legacy will live on through his movies and other ways that he touched us.

Rest in peace, Mr. Williams. You've made me laugh when I felt blue, and enriched the lives of millions through your roles in film and through your stand-up. You will be missed greatly. *sniff*

I wonder what meds he was on. Some of those anti-depressants have warnings that indicate usage may lead to suicidal thoughts.

Depression itself leads to that. I believe the meds just show the warning to let you know that you "may not stop getting" such thoughts.

The humour of the funniest people is sometimes a psychological defense mechanism against something(s) they don't tell.

Very sad news indeed. I just keep wondering what the heck he was so depressed about. Now I've been through many bouts of depression myself and I can say it's really tough when you're going through with it, but I almost always had a big reason to be depressed. But with Mr. Williams, one can say he had a good life, at least as seen from the outside. I wonder what's really been troubling him... Family? Money matters? Has all the money he had made caused him to be bored with life and lose the reasons to hang on?

One of the news stories I read indicated that he had substance abuse issues. Cause, effect, or both... we can't really be sure.

Robin Williams was fantastic comedian and actor. I will miss him. The tragic part of his death is how he was seemingly unable to reach out to any one of a number of people that would have helped him. He will have millions mourning his death and anyone of them would have picked up the phone if he called. Heck, he could have mashed the keypad with palm of his hand and whoever answered the phone would have probably known who he was and had a hour conversation with him. It is just senseless to me.

R.I.P.

My wife and I were stunned and saddened by his death. I enjoyed Jumanji, Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society. Can barely remember Mork and Mindy being on TV as a little tyke.

I think, if I'm right, he has 3 or 4 post-production movies bound for theaters soon. People will watch those movies feeling sad. What's also sad is how those movies' producers will benefit and profit pretty much solely due to Robin's passing, and unless they have a heart, they'll make sure people keep Robin's passing fresh in their minds so as to go to the cinemas to see Robin's final acts of brilliance.

So sad, really. I first encountered Robin's work in Aladdin, where he voiced the Genie. And there was Flubber (1997), Bicentennial Man, etc. Well, what's done is done. May God take his soul and give him eternal peace.

Growing up, I busted a gut many times laughing at Mork from Ork. That doesn't diminish how much I enjoyed his later works, but Mork will always be my foremost memory of him.

Prayers for his family.

Robin Williams admitted during interviews that he had a lifelong history with depression. I seem to remember him saying that he used comedy as one of his tools for combating it.

Personally I found the news very sad and even a little depressing to hear. If Williams lost his fight to depression then it can certainly happen to anyone. :(

Robin Williams, you will be sorely missed. I just wish ya could have seen the outpouring of support and thoughts from everyone that you have touched beforehand. The world is a little worse off without you in it.

Well, it seems he's been going through some financial struggles lately, taking on roles he doesn't really like just to pay the bills. At 63, he just wasn't where he was expecting himself to be.

Three marriages and life long struggles with substance abuse (alcohol and cocaine) can eat away at a fortune and your mental health.

FDA has studies among children that show an increase in the % of having suicidal thoughts. It makes sense, the drugs are messing around with the body chemistry.

Yup, he'd been financially "struggling" - certainly a relative term - for years now. He lost a lot of money in divorces.
