I only have enough for one of these. IF you had money would you rather buy a playstation 2 with one game and memory card or would you buy the 128MB ATI Radeon 9500 Pro graphics card?

That'd all depend on what kind of graphics card you're running now.

Is it just me, or does it seem rather odd to include your heatsink/fan in yoru sig but not your vid card? If this is indeed because your system has *no* video card, then I'd go for the Radeon ;)

depends on how much time u spend on ur computer, i just sold my ps2 & xbox because i played every single game on both...and there will not be to much there for me for alittle while...so i am catching up on my computer gaming...but if i had never played before i would take the ps2, the game library is huge and there are over 100 games for only $19.99 i think it would be a great buy for a first timer.

As Dissonance pointed out, we need a bit more information to provide you with a good answer. Specifically, what graphics solution you are currently using, how much time you game on you computer ect....

my graphics card I have now is an ATI All In Wonder PCI 32MB card. I did have it in my sig but took it out b/c the rows went verticle instead of horizontal and it ended up being a paragraph lol.

I also have the Antec Performance plus case with the antec 330 watt true powersuply. Not sure if this will even be enough power to run that Radeon card.

330 Watt PSU? Should be adequate, unless you have a lot of blinky lights and a stack of HD in your PC.

This question really depends on what kinds of games you play.

PC
Multiplay games
Sophisticated 'I need a keyboard' games

PS/2
Squaresoft and Capcom games?

For the PS2, you won't have to worry about the game not running right or fast enough or with all the eye candy on, and you have PS1 compatibility, plenty of games. It really also depends on the amount of time you spend gaming.

The PS was released in 1991 (?) and there are still games released today that can be run on it. IMHO, I doubt your Radeon would last more than 2 1/2 years. That's also if you don't run into issues installing the card to begin with.

I'd go for the PS2 :D

Ouch. That's a Rage 128 isn't it.

I vote for the Radeon. If you're still surviving on a Rage 128, a 9500 Pro should last you a good two or three years.

It's not worth it to get a console if you can only get one game. IMHO.

Power shouldn't be an issue. Even a standard 300W supply is enough as long as you're not running 4 hard drives, a heavily overclocked processor, or a bunch of other ancilliary junk. The Radeon isn't going to pull any more than one additional harddrive. It couldn't possibly dissipate that kind of heat.

right now I mostly play Half life mods such as Firearms and TFC once in a while. Some of the other online games and demosI want to try my graphics card doesnt support. The only big problem is that I'm in my college dorm room most of the time b/c of my classes and they have a firewall up blocking the major online gaming ports so I cant play online.

For the playstation2 games I love the sports games and I'm planning on getting Madden NFL 2003 as soon as possible.

Is there any millionares out there that can give me $500? I would really appreciate it :D

Danger, if you're in a college dorm, there should be plenty of opportunity to play online games within the dorm network. Heck, when I was in school we had coax strung out the windows to form our own little network for Doom and Quake action, you shouldn't have a problem finding players inside the firewall to have the equivalent of a LAN game with.

I wonder, how easy with that hardware and a Radeon 9500 Pro would it be to run a PS2 emulator, if such a product exists. I'd expect that the hardware would be more than capable.

I would personally go for the graphics card. i sold my PS2 not long ago as i got a gamecube but i never play that either as all my game playing is on the PC these days!

However PS2 is still a great consloe and nothing could be better than playing on one when at college with all ur mates! that's all i did when i was at uni - just sit around playing the PS or N64 etc! Hours of fun! :)

I would get the Playstation 2.

You can still play most PC games with your old video card, while getting a PS2 will open the door to 100's more.

Not to mention that the PS2 should hold you over for awhile until the Radeon or GeforceFX cards are around $100.

Plus the PS2 doubles as a CD\DVD player.
