LJA is doing a quick video card swap. The server will be back up and running in a little bit.

In a nutshell, it stems from a defective XFX 8600GTS card.

Yeah, I saw that also. Here's hoping...

For the moment, I'm not planning on renting a server from Gameservers.com. I'm going to try to run a UT3 server in-house off of the same box that I am currently running our UT2004 server. Toward that end, I've upgraded the box to 2GB RAM, and I have an Opteron 156 on the way.

I figure this should be overkill, but I don't think anybody (aside from the developers) really knows how much resources a UT3 server will consume. Most likely, bandwidth will be our problem, especially when the game first comes out, but at least we won't have a gutless server.

And besides, I fold on that box. :D

I was actually contemplating setting up a server at Case since they recently upgraded the outbound network connection to 512 mbit/s and improved the packet shaping. If we need a ventrilo server I could probably loan my guilds vent server.

I've found out that I have so much free time when i don't play WOW. It's kinda weird. I'm excited to start playing UT again( I'm in New Zealand right now so no gaming at all for me)

Does anyone know what the hardware requirements are going to look like for UT3?

Do they actually have a release date for UT3 now?

I know there's a lot of vent love here, but I have a TS server that ought to be able to handle voice traffic.

I don't know that it's necessarily "love." I just picked Ventrilo at random when I first signed up with Clanservers a couple of years back, and we've been using it ever since.

I know little of TeamSpeak, but I assume it is more-or-less the practical equal of Ventrilo.

Now, Krogoth already has a Ventrilo server set up, but I for one would not mind in the least switching to TeamSpeak, and I certainly appreciate your offer!

My average latency hovers around 200-285ms... I bought the game from Hoser and it arrived this morning, so I'll test out online play to see what its like before I join your guys server.

What Card? I know I am going to upgrade to a C2C and whatever's hot around Nov. timeframe :)

7800gt, just slapped an AS5 on it, I'll OC it later today. You woman up for an ass-stomping tonight? Say around 9pm or so? I can host a 5 person vent, but if stiffie has a TS server, we can all pile in!

Supposedly, it's 768kpbs up on average. I'm signed up on my ISP's Power User package. It does seem to change from time to time (the advertised speed, I mean). I've seen it advertised as high as 1.5Mbps up in the past.

I'm on vacation as of 2pm EST time today, I can play all night! I too have not played regularly in a few months, the only FPS I have played in the last 3 months is FEAR and it's not helpful in UT. Maybe just the coordination. I'd STILL love to host my own FEAR server starting this weekend. The MP is free to play, we should give that a go :D

In other words, don't let me set the time, go by what the majority can do, I'll be in at some point :D

I hopped in earlier and got all the files I needed aside from maps, so I should be good to go whenever. I'll be WoWing until then.
