I appear to have lost my install discs, but Steam has it for sale pretty cheap. I assume that if I buy it from Steam that I can still play on the LJA server?

Of course! Mods and custom maps work the same too.

Question to the group: is it possible to extract your cache when playing a Steam version of UT2004? Obviously that's not a critical item; I'm just curious if anyone knows the answer. My guess is "no."

You can extract the cache from a "Steam" copy of UT2004. You just have to tell the extract program where UT2004 is located. The steam version is located in Steam\steamapps\(your SteamID)\UT2004 directory.

I have a 4GB directory of UT2004 maps and music, but yes we have a redirect. Music however, if custom, will not download. I may be able to put that on a dropbox directory and share it with you so you can download it.
