Ok so I'm trying to play it and going through the first area, claptrap stops, mutters "thermal optics... they can't seee meeeee" and just stands there. I can't leave the area, i can't progress, there is nothing to do and no hints. If I jump on top of the building where he is stopped, and walk towards the back, an NPC will say some things that a shop owner might say, however I can't see anyone. As best as I can tell, the game is bugged and claptrap is supposed to open the shop for me to buy stuff and progress. He won't.

Anyone else having this problem? I killed everything I can find, looted everything, interacted with everything. Stuck 10 minutes into the game?!

SInce it's 10 min in, load up a new game/character and see if it happens again.

If this is the first NPC/store thing, there's a button next to the door. I think it's green. I'll double check after I get back.

Also, this game needs AA.

Yup, different guy, moved right along. That's annoying - did they even test 10 minutes in with the soldier? As a warning, avoid the soldier for now I'd say.

Correct, it's not usable by the soldier for some reason. I loaded up a new guy (hunter) and it worked without a hitch.

Don't get too comfortable with your hunter, I'm rolling a Hunter/Rogue for tonight's gaming. Dibs I say!

Playing as a hunter on my 360. Having a blast so far, but I HATE having to bring up the map every 20 seconds to verify my location/direction. Why the hell could they not put a mini-map on the HUD?

I found it pretty easy to realize where I was / where I was going with the compass. On PC anyhow, you can tap tab to bring it up.

Level 11 Soldier, level 7 sniper atm. Got some really interesting guns - got a rocket launcher that fires electrical rockets that melt the flesh off foes and cause their heads to explode. I have what I describe as an "aquatic shotgun" that fires 6 concurrent watery bouncy bullets. Those are my two faves so far. I really really love this game.

It's probably the shotgun you get as a reward from the blind guy. "Ride the Wave".

I have a LVL 12 hunter and when I send out Bloodwing, my hawk of death, he generates up to 5 extra drops when he kills. Helps keep me in ammo. I'm also focusing on sniper rifle prof.

I haven't run into any bugs or crashes, and I'm having a great time. When you team up for co-op they generate harder enemies and better loot, so I'm looking forward to that.

/sigh I got dc'd last night and when I came back on I lost all my skill and prof points on a level 11 toon. Searching the forums for a resolution I found:

On both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Borderlands, it appears as though under certain multiplayer situations, you will lose all of your skill and proficiency points. It looks like this is primarily happens if you are in a multiplayer game and don't save before you quit. Particularly annoying for people who have leveled their character up pretty high... There's no fix yet

so moral of the story save, often! I naturally expected it to do an autosave....Oh yeah thats a dumb feature.

Did you get him from LVL1 to LVL11 in the same multiplayer session? Surely you didnt' bring a LVL11 toon into a MP session, exit and have a LVL1 toon (that would suck).

My soldier Is 11, got him to 3 in the "tutorial" area, then played til 11 with my buddy. My Hunter is 11 now also and on the same quests so I can play with my bud on him as well. The way it saves is that it always saves character data (items, experience, etc) but won't save your game unless you've reached the checkpoint (completed a mission, something like that) - concerning the bug with the prof points, does everyone have to save or just the host?

seems that if the host quits the game before everyone else has you're character doesn't get saved. This happened a few times last night.

Also, is anyone else having trouble hosting private games? Only two of the 4 people i played with last night could host. This brings up all kinds of issues if anyone gets behind on quests. I've opened up the ports the game supposedly uses, but only one of my friends can join my game. The other 2 can't, but if someone else hosts we can all join...

We replayed the first 5 lvls or so 3 times last night because people kept joining us mid game. Its very annoying that you can't do the quests out of order. For a game built around 4 player co-op it doesn't seem like that part was very well thought out. The person with the least progress has to host if they want to get quests done, and if they have hosting issues they are screwed and have to go solo to catch up...

Thats exactly what happened, brought in a level 11 to a MP game, DC'd came back and no skill or profs points.... Nothing....was a waste of a perfectly good evening.

I have a 42 berserker on the 360 and haven't had any bugs (outside of the host leaving the game and not saving). Working on my second playthrough now. It is a pretty fun game! I am part of a group of 3 that has been leveling together and it has been a blast.

We need to share our usernames so we can all get together and play :P

Of course I use the name Philldoe, so feel free to randomly add me and invite me to games, my steam name is der_philldoe. I'll be playing the crap out of this game for some time so I'll most likely be on a lot.

I hereby posit we call the game "Bröderlünds", with two umlauts, since it is so über.

Also, has anyone picked up any orange drops yet? I read an interview with one of the devs that suggested they are rare enough that you may only see one through the course of the game.

I have a lvl 18 character about to enter the mines and I've seen maybe 6 purples, but no oranges, which seems right. I want "very rare" to be just that, duping complaints aside.

I picked up a sweet orange shotgun last night at lvl 19 right after the mines. 57dmg x9, 60ish acc. 1.5 fire rate, 2x explosive and a 4x zoom, definitely the best shotgun I've seen so far. It was the item of the day at the weapons booth and it cost me almost all my cash 43g's.

I'm not too sure that the color indicates quality just rarity. I've seen plenty of white weapons that are way better than greens, blues and purples.

We ran the mines last night (me and 1 other) as a soldier / assassin pair. After killed sledge he dropped a really nice purple shotgun, mine! It fires both shotgun shells in rapid succession. It's good in close, and because my assassin friend is sniperish, I stay close and heal him with my shotgun blast (talent that converts my shooting others into health, friendly only of course) and I can completely heal him in 4 shells (2 shots).

Love this game, can't get enough of it. I have a 17 Hunter sniper solo that I'm taking into the mines tonight after work. So far my only knocks against the game are the shoddy voice support (really a gamespy issue), and the lack of steam gaming even though it's through steam. MP support didn't work at first, had to open ports which I thought was odd, seems fine now.

on a 5 scale, I'd rate the graphics a 4.5 (needs AA support natively), Sound 4.5, Control a 5, Gameplay 4.5 (DLC FTW!). It runs butter on my aging c2d system.

Me and Yama, have been burning this game up since it's release. I'm only leveling up one toon, and so far it's a level 32 Medic classed soldier. Assault guns are a tad hard to come by for me, at least any good ones, some times I'll go through an entire area and have only one crappy gun drop. Ammo for me can be really tough to get too, but I've been lucky enough to get some really decent drops when I do get them.

This game is just too damn good

The Soldier's medic tree can allow for ammo regen, I can't recall if it's based on the turret or not. The cool down on the turret is not that bad.

I finished it last night. Some of the guns are pretty cool but it can take a while to find a gun you love. I stuck with the same shotgun from level 15 all the way to 32. For some reason the game got a lot harder when playing with friends too. I played the first 70% of the game with a friend and then tried playing solo for a bit and slaughtered everything. Then again, when you go berserk you're pretty much invincible and destroy everything in seconds. It was pretty fun but I thought it would last longer. I tried doing a lot of the side quests but by the time I got the missions half of them were already well below my level.

I am having a hard time getting into some sort of rhythm with any of the class types. So far the only one that really interest me is the siren and I really dont know how to employ her ghostwalk ability (should I use it before or during fights? Or just use it a a oh sheet thing to regen shield?). The soldier is interesting but meh......The tank....well he is crap plain and simple. Mordecai is the second most interesting but I havent spent much time on him so I dont know what he is like after about level 20 or so.

and damn that respawn timer......ugg I hate having to reclear areas.

I dont know if this game is going to hold my attention :/

So if anyone has any pointers I could sure use them. Right now I am using the Siren as I think she is the most interesting.
