I have put in a lot of time in on Skyrim in the past two days and while I am enthralled with it currently I am not happy that I see a lot of reused textures/items/graphics from Fallout. :-?

I have not had gaming time since July, and yet I just purchased this game and the guide. Guess it will be a while before I get back to Witcher 2, Grand theft Auto iV, and the DLC I picked up for FO New Vegas. :-?

At least I have a couple of big vacation times coming up soon. :D
Probably PUI. Definitely an كافر

the question is... do i make the purchase for the PC via steam... or get it for the PS3?

99+% of google searches seem to favor the PC version cuz of the dev console/mod stuff...

If you've got a gaming PC then you definitely should get the game for it instead of a console. If your PC is an Atom-based netbook, then the PlayStation 3 version would be the better choice.

Gleek, I'd definitely do PC over console.

Mods made quite a difference for Oblivion, and the opportunity is there for Skyrim. Also, as it's not really multiplayer in any way, there's no real reason to opt for console that I can think of.

Well I dropped the $60 bomb today and opted for the PC version via Steam... This will be my VERY first time EVER playing an Elder Scrolls game.. I was never interested in TES1/2/3/4....

Yeah, was?

I've played about 20 hours thus far. I'm only lvl 18. You're missing so much of the TES experience if you just main quest the whole time.

Started my file in Skyrim recently. I tried to kill that guy who helps you in the beginning( what's his name? Hadvar?), lol he kicked my a**...

Update: Playing through my first side quest, this game is certainly a step up from Oblivion, the fatalities are a good addition...
Running this game on a athlon x2 2.2ghz with a 9800GTX+ at 1280x1024 with med-high settings. I OC'd my GPU to squeeze out a few more frames.

Yes, I finished the main storyline. I have done this on every TES games that have been out. Main thing is this, I like to play my RPGs realistically as if I was actually making the decisions. I have never played an Eldar Scrolls game where anything else was more important than the world ending. You lost your puppy? Sorry, a bit of a DRAGON problem on my hands right now. Come back to you afterwards? And that's exactly what I will do. The main storyline has been completed and the world saved. Now I can do a whole bunch of awesome late game moves in every side quest I do now, and don't feel rushed because the world isn't about to end.

Its an epic fantasy game, of course you are trying to save the world. And just like every other fantasy game, after you beat the main storyline you would THINK the world wouldn't be in danger anymore. How is that spoiling anything, its a game of course you come out on top if you win.

This looks cool, but it needs Steam. I wonder how many people or potential sales that kills.

I'm much more likely to buy a game through Steam than through Origin or in a retail box.

I may try Steam if the prices are significantly better then what's on Amazon or other e/r-etailers.

I like the magic MUCH better in Skyrim vs Oblivion. Oblivion was kinda like "pew pew pew" where you had to make sure you aimed properly to shoot a fireball, etc. It was tough and made me not want to waste my magic even trying to hit an enemy that ran. Skyrim makes it much easier to use magic on an enemy. I was almost purely melee/stealth in Oblivion, and I'm what amounts to a battlemage now with destruction magic + single hand weapons. Loving it.

F***ers keep killing my horses!!!!! >.<

Anyways, So I just been travelling around for the most part doing odds and end quests here and there. At some point I am going to have to sit down and finish these quest lines.

I am also going to have to research where the best weapons and armor is. I remember in Morrowind there was this Glass and Obsidian set that was really pimp.

I have to stress again that I am not too happy seeing some of the same textures/ items from Fallout. I mean really? REALLY?! seems like it was a shortcut move on Bethesda's part.

Why reinvent the wheel? You had quality textures created. Why pay someone more money to recreate a texture for the same material? If they decided to recreate them all from scratch, would you wait the extra 6 months and pay an extra $5 for the game?

If you have two different IPs wouldnt you want to separate them visually? I guess reinventing the wheel wouldnt be prudent, but dang it at least re-texture the models and not use the same ones. /shrug

I'm having a TERRIBLE time with this game. I'm coming from the standpoint of NEVER having played any Elder Scrolls game in my life... or for that matter, I've never played an actual RPG before (besides stuff like Ragnarok, Zelda, Secret of Mana, etc...).

But... after 10+ hours, I am only Level 2. And I do not know how to obtain TONS of gold, gain experience without getting KILLED 100's of times!!! ARGH! this game is so frustrating, especially seeing how SO many of you are level 18+ and some of you have already completed the game?! WTF!

This makes no sense. Are you going to the 'Level Up' screen? I've played for MAYBE 3 hours and I'm lvl 6. I'm not sure if your level actually increases if you don't goto the level up screen and choose your upgrade.

It makes perfect sense to me. I spend 10-15 mins in every room or area I walk through. I go through EVERY piece of items that are clickable. Check through ALL barrels, sacks, open chests, everything! It's VERY time consuming!!!

As for the level up screen, I've only encountered this 1 time when I went from level 1 to 2 recently.

I need pointers/tips please!!!

On the compass screen (Magick, Items, Map, Skills), see if the 'Up' position says Level Up. If it does go do it and see if it lets you choose more htan one You may be a level 5 or more and not know it.

You really don't need to go through every single thing to see if it is worth it. You should set yourself up with a ratio you want. I only only pick up things that are 5to1 gold to weight ratio or higher. I actually like things to be more valuable than that, but sometimes you can't always get that stuff. You can't worry about having TONS of money early. The more quests you do and places you visit, the more money you will make. Talk to almost everyone in towns to get quests. You will be on your way.
