I don't know. Have you ever played Diablo though? You don't really use the keyboard much. 4 Hotkeys and one more for health is all I use.

I'm undecided about Diablo 3. Perhaps Torchlight 2 will be a better idea.

Update: Just read that you can finish the main campaign in 7 hours if you hustle (and have 3 buddies) and saw some of the screenshots (consolitis?). That's sealed the case for me not turning over my hard earned cash.

To be fair, even leaving aside the fact that (as other people have pointed out) the people who did this almost certainly were ignoring significant fractions of the game on the way by, all they did was clear the first difficulty level.

According to my understanding, Diablo III is like its immediate predecessor in that it's designed so that you complete one difficulty level, then take the same character and start the (newly unlocked) next; there are four sequential difficulties, and it's the fourth one that is intended to be Really Freakin' Hard.

Although there is, AFAIK, only one storyline, and that storyline gets repeated once per difficulty level, the overall game progression is a continuous sequence that encompasses all four difficulty levels in succession. In that sense, the people who took down Diablo in 7 hours are really only a quarter of the way in, and the hardest parts are all ahead of them.

(If I'm wrong, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm at work right now, so I can't look up details to confirm or refute my understanding.)

It's a blizzard game, there's no bugs. Or at least none I've encountered in the first 8 hrs of play. (End of Act 1), 3 more acts ahead of me and then move up a difficulty!

There are 4 more classes, so technically they're only 5% of the way in.

Yeah, people that expect a Diablo game to be about "the first and only playthrough" really aren't getting it... and with, like, a decade and a half of history for the series (with D2 staying strong for at least ten years) that's kinda surprising.

What is going on with the Diablo hate? I don't think anyone likes the always-on connection requirement, but that's just how it is. Get over it or move on and stop complaining.

As for these bugs? I've played through Act1 on regular and hardcore and haven't found a single bug yet. Sooo, I'm not sure what's going on there. People complaining about "consolitis" graphics need to get a clue. This isn't BF3. This game is made by Blizzard and the graphics are what they want them to be. You can't even compare the two, and if you are, stop.

7 hours of gameplay? That's like saying once you have played every map of a multiplayer FPS you stop playing it forever. Stupid claim by people that don't know what they are talking about. There are FOUR difficulty levels, regular and hardcore, and five classes. You can play solo or with from one to three other people in your party.

Honestly people - don't criticize if you don't even know what the game is.

I'd say it's more of an annoyance as you can't play the game because they blew the servers on the launch.

Well i bought it todasy aboiut 2hrs ago and installed it on my sig rig,And mny new HTPC a little 220 watt gatewat slim tower with a g530 sandy based celery dual core at 2.4ghz 4 gig ram and a 500 gig 7200 HD on a H61 chipset and a low profile 45-50 watt 6570 1GB ddr3 asus card.
1920x1080 with aa and af everything maxed in game but shadows on medium and it plays smooth as butter.
You don;t need a lot of horse power to play this game.Perhaps as i get further i i will have to turn off aa but its smooth enough now.
Even turned on my 55" vt30 panny plasma's 2d-3d conversion and it gives it a little more depth without affecting FPS.

I like the way it remembers where you are in a game via your battlenet account so it always starts where you left off

Simple, people need to be vocal about such stupid changes and boycott the product. If you bend over, there will be more and more such draconian changes. Buying collectors edition means you don't care that you're getting screwed.

I would consider Diablo, Assasins Creed, Prince of Persia and other such games, but the draconian DRM is not for me.

I wish the solution were so simple, but unfortunately, the gaming crowd is so vocal about so much idiotic stuff that the only message gleaned where it matters is "rabble rabble rabble!" People need to chill out and stop flying off the handle just to score the most worthless "Ain't I Too Cool For School" points ever, and then maybe some clear and substantive message can make it through the muck to devs and publishers.

Not everyone buys collector's editions for game itself. I played SWTOR beta, I immediately noticed that the game was bad and was not improving in any meaningful way, but I did purchase the collector's edition. I also purchased 2 copies of Skyrim - one was a XBox360 Collector's Edition, and I will never play it on XBox360. I just like to collect the Collector's Editions, so do many other people. So please stop constanly trying to judge other people by your own self and take your non-stop whining about "people getting screwed" and "OMG DRM is EVIL!!!111" somewhere else.

I'm glad I decided to take next week off instead. Just remembering when WoW first came out and the servers the first week were awful so it's no surprise about D3. So far I have to admit I am really enjoying the game after beating D1 and playing D2 for years MFing and PVPing. I think we need a new forum thread about the game and not the issues going on with the servers :D . I will start one now!

Regardless of the good, bad, or ugly comments we try not to make duplicate threads here at TR. I would highly suggest that you dont.

It seems straitened out in general, I had no problems playing last night.

The game plays a little faster than D2 did, and it does seem like they tried to add a bit more story/info here and there. I think my monk is about level 10 now and just past the Skeleton King.

Started my play last night. Had some other things to do so couldn't play long. I'm a dungeon crawler and search every nook and cranny along with attempting to finish all quest. No way I'll complete this in 7-8 hours. I did pick up the CE although I don't normally. To me it was worth the extra $40.

My agreement: if you just don't like it, move on. Generating more talk of a game you don't like/disagree with only strengthens that game because more people are talking about it.
My disagreement: the always-on connection is a little shoddy, IMO. Steam has an offline mode...you have to connect in order to launch the game, but you don't need a persistent connection. If Blizzard needs a persistent connection, I think that they need to do a little more function to compensate for single-player down time. Heck, why not drop in D1 and/or D2 for people to play while servers are down?
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

Finished regular with some friends. It's sort of like WoW but much faster paced. Definitely faster to finish the game if you team up.

Now on Nightmare and it's really tough. Hehe. Overall the game has been more fun than I expected compared to when I tried the beta.

Logging onto a server is annoying, especially when they have downtime to do updates, but it's really quick to pick up just where you left off.

I also wish they would implement control pad support, its so much more comfortable to play on a controller. My warrior so far would play fine with a control pad, the only ability that really needs a distance has been Leap. Apart from that it's all directional which would work fine on an analog stick.

I'm level 30 atm, about half way through Act III. Enjoying it so far, the second act felt quite short and same with the third so far, hopefully the depth ramps up a bit in the remaining acts.

I've been playing on a secondary system, cause that's what I put the Beta on.
Haven't been able to get it installed on my main system , seems like a lot of people
from the Diablo 3 Forums are having similar problems. Ive tired everything that's
been suggested to no avail. At least it's playing on other system until end of next month when hopefully GW2 is launched.

What is the exact issue you are having, with me, I just had to enable secondary logon, which I did not like, but its probably something to with their online DRM, the agent.exe thingy.

It may need to log on to the battle.net server before your actual account or something like that anyways.
