I am not a fan of software piracy, but this is absurd. If I want to play my single player game that I paid for, don't make me wait for your stupid server.

Once again, the paying customer gets screwed.

I agree, I know why they did it, but they were so underprepared for the amount of people that wanted to play, it wasn't even funny. The fact that they obviousy had an idea how many people from annual pass+preorders+everyone else, and basically said screw it we aren't going to even try to cope with it made a lot of people very mad last night. The amount of server issues and emergency maint shows reminds me back of the BC launch with outages and crashes. Considering how well that did with the cata launch, I figured this type of issue was behind them...it shows it isn't and their D3 team dropped the ball.

...also, this is quite amuzing:

Vast majority of user "reviews" are negative. Most "reviewers" obviously didn't play the game, but from what I've personally seen (I watched the Taiwanese stream where they went through all of the Acts and beat the game) I would probably agree with some of them and I'm glad I didn't waste the money on it.

They went back up around 5 30 CST. Been playing since then with no issues.

I understand the piracy angle as well as everyone else that has posted, but come on already, this is Blizzard and Activision, in particular Blizzard with their years of experience with WOW and servers, to my mind this really is inexcusable, though I still bought 2 copies.

Its not that big of a deal for a company this big to have too many servers for a week, then scale back.

Well looks like the game servers are takign another pounding by all the people trying to play tonight and are down again...wonder if we will have another emergency maint shortly...

NA servers still offline, so are the forums... Also, it is very amusing how Blizzard tries to "offload" their general notifications/updates to Twitter instead of posting them on their own site

I do expect, at some point, Blizzard releasing a patch to allow for offline play. Easing back on this from all the pressure is bound to happen.

Also, emergency maint just started.....

What I would do to see the network department, servers and infrastructure in action right now #networkporn

So I finally get a chance to try the game out today and the servers are down. That is somewhat disappointing.

Hmm...

I'm undecided about Diablo 3. Perhaps Torchlight 2 will be a better idea.

Update: Just read that you can finish the main campaign in 7 hours if you hustle (and have 3 buddies) and saw some of the screenshots (consolitis?). That's sealed the case for me not turning over my hard earned cash.

It hasn't been 24 hours, and I've been unable to login to the game when I want than I've been able to login.
ME3 multiplayer while I wait.

I'm shocked that people are not boycotting the game, and more so, they buy multiple copies or collector editions.

You are treated like a lowly trash, connectivity issues, draconian DRM, cosmic prices, 7 hours of gameplay, consolitis graphics. What the ...?

And the next step will be, that the company will think - wow, look, we released a crappy product, that wasn't even working, for 99.99$ and people brought it anyway, let's turn it to 11 on next one!

I was playing solo barb for 4 hrs and didn't even finish act 1.... I assume these koreans rushed through the whole thing, ignore all the story and side quests and what not. I reckon it'll take me 7 hrs to finish act 1 if not more.

Fickle opinions for fickle gamers.

I doubt that. Everything is stored server side for the most part.

I'm enjoying my solo barbarian. What with baby and cutting grass and work I only got a little time to play, but so far I am enjoying it.

Didn't like the cartoony cut scenes. *minor gripe*

Only got to play it for 20 minutes last night but I like the Monk so far.

I also chose the Monk for the challenge, it takes awhile for the Monk to come into its own. I would almost say its under-powered at 25 and below, but I wont, its just challenging. Using the Templar with his taunt ability is very useful in many situations. Also the monk can wield some very odd weapons or it has some odd weapons choices available to it. The sword and board being the most odd.

My biggest grip to date is the Armor crafter, it pains me to use mats for a piece of armor/weapon that has a "chance of random magical stat" only to see me get something with strength on it. WTF! I need DEX not STR. Oh well you can always farm for more mats which is actually easy.

I was THIS CLOSE to placing the order on b.net but I'm going to wait for the queues to subside. No reason rushing out to pay a wad of cash on something I can't play.

I was going to download it, but I would rather buy it in a store and have it. But I am sure the server issue will be fixed soon.

I heard that this game sucks.

Just kidding. I wonder when they will release it for consoles. I never really played Diablo I and II, though I've played tons of their clones.

I haven't played it but after hearing the reviews and watching streams the game is buggy as anything, online only play, it's ugly as **** (seriously, 12 years wasn't enough time to make it look decent?) I'm sure it'll do fine numbers wise but man, I'm glad I didn't scratch the itch.

Then this isn't the thread you're looking for. You can go about your business. Move along. Move along.

Hopefully the server will remain stable today. Playing Barbarian, mad fun once you learn Leap. Seriously, that's like the most awesomest move ever. You can leap up levels!

When will this game be $10 and on Steam? Glad I've been ignoring it for the most part. Figure it's got a year left of paid betatesters to finish up the bug testing.

And yeah I know it'll never be on Steam unless one acquires the other.

This seems to say it'll be a while if at all. Too bad, too - it'd be fun to play from the couch. Diablo I was a PSOne release and it was great.

Come to think of it, Warcraft II on the Saturn and Starcraft 64 were pretty good, too. I hope Blizzard does this.

Boo! Is the game currently playable with a gamepad? If so, I may have to hook the PC up in the media room.
