XBox 360 in Shanghai

Thu Oct 11, 2012 8:09 pm

I had absolutely no idea where to ask this so my apologies if this isn't the right spot.

I'm moving to Shanghai for work and I want to take my XBox 360 with me. I know the console wasn't officially released there, but does anyone know if are there any shops where I can buy a 220V power supply to use with it? Or should I look for a correct voltage power supply before I leave and try to find a matching cord or a plug adaptor once I arrive? Thanks

Never been to China, but I don't think the stock Xbox 360 power supplies can handle 220V (should list voltage range on power brick). In this case, you'll need a 220V, 200W (minimum) AC/DC power supply. Like this one.

Only problem is that I'm not sure if the one in the link above comes with the right wall plug for Shanghai. I've heard that they use the same as Australia, which would be this

If you get both, you should be covered. However, I would imagine you could get both, and especially the wall cable, in Shanghai, but I have no idea where.

The power supplies seems to be either 110-127V or 220-240V. You could always buy a voltage converter, just make sure it handles the wattage of you supply (depends on which version of the Xbox you got).

Yes, I have the original 100V power supply but I'm not planning to even bother taking it with me. I'd like to buy the 220V AC⇒DC brick there if possible, I'm sure the PC-style power cord for the brick won't be a problem to find. Does anyone know where the big electronics shopping district in Shanghai is? Otherwise, eBay is the way to go?
