I have a GTX 670 and when I first played Arkham City with it I could play at max settings with no problems. It has how be quite a while since I last played and with both the new 327.23 driver and the previous 320.49 drivers it has been very sluggish forcing me to turn off physx and directx 11 features to be able to play.

So which older driver would you recommend to use with a GTX 670 for a smooth framerate at max settings?

Er why? all my other games work fine including Crysis 3 so it's not overheating.

DX11 in Arkham City was a performance-killer, especially when mixed with PhysX. If you have both of those enabled, even with a high-end card like the 670, it might just be the game.

I have a vanilla 660, so a card that's a bit slower than yours granted, but at 1080p I still can't play Arkham City with both PhysX and DX11 turned on and get console-level framerates. Turn off DX11 and I can't tell a difference in quality but the framerate spikes up and holds steady at what I beleive to be roughly 60fps at all times.

The DX11 shadows are great, but turn off the Tessellation. It's utterly useless.

Uh, neither, if you're just starting off. If you want to get some real perspective on Batman & The Joker's relationship, start with Batman: The Killing Joke. Or, hell, read Batman - Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, the original inspiration for the Arkham Asylum game. It's not note-for-note, so don't worry about spoilers!
