The Four Core Principles of AMD’s Mantle

I thought I’d share with you the recent blog by Ritche Corpus, Director of ISV Gaming at AMD.
You’ll find lots of information about Mantle: http://community.amd.com/community/amd- ... d-s-mantle

Because it's proprietary and will likely die an early death if it's only available to ~40% of the market, are there any plans to make it available to nVidia? If you can get 100% of the discrete graphics market you've got half a chance of people using it beyond Battlefield 4.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.

Even if it were available to Nvidia, it'd still be useless since it's a low-level API meaning it wouldn't be useful for Nvidia's hardware.

There will be a hands-on demonstration of Mantle during the AMD Gaming Summit at APU13 (in San Jose, Ca - Nov 11 to 13), next month...I'm expecting more info/details to become available thereafter too.

I believe they said it's an open standard, and will be used on all currently developed Frostbite 3 titles (including DA3, the next ME, Command and Conquer, BF4, and Need for Speed: Rivals.)

So I'm planning on getting an AMD card, eventually...just got the 660 though so might be a while.

I very much dislike NVs exclusionary tactics lately so I'd rather have stuck with AMD, but they were just a little too late to the party.

So I haven't bought a single AMD video card since......oh..... early 2000s. You know when they had all those driver issues. Maybe its time to re-evaluate them/that.
