Artisan cheese. Stinkier means better.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

I'll start things off; I think I'm mostly playing indie titles these days. This past year, my gaming habits have been:

PC AAA:
Tomb Raider
Sleeping Dogs
Dishonored

PC Indie:
Fez
Hotline Miami
Bastion
Deadlight
Project Zomboid
Closure
Limbo
Gunpoint
Contrast
Mark of the Ninja
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
Sanctum 2
Ultima Ratio Regum

PSVita AAA:
Dragon's Crown
Wipeout 2048
Persona 4 Golden
Tearaway

PsVita Indie:
Spelunky
Rymdkapsel
Cytus Lambda
Hotline Miami
Guacamelee
Wind, Sand and Stars.

indie games/mods tend to be more creative and fun so I end up playing mostly them. Once in a while a AAA title catches my attention, but usually it's just more call of duty or DRM infested broken sim city.

The last AAA title I played was deadspace...3?.....was just more of the exact same as 1/2 but it had coop so I still enjoyed it. And I got it for only a few dollars.

Most of my time these days is spent on shards of dalaya and misery.

I noticed that I mostly play old games. AAA stuff, but are they still AAA if I play them with a time delay of 5 years or more?

Been working on getting 100% completion for Dragon Age: Origins. Then there's the Fallout games that went out on GoG recently.
On my phone I've been playing the Final Fantasy V re-release which I never had the chance to play on SNES or GBA.

Prefer AAA or close to it stuff. Hasn't been much of interest lately though. Building my new system for Mantle and we'll see what else.

In time... AAA games, no questions about it, but I keep to just a few of them like 3 or 4 at the most.
In amount of games, Indie, easily since I usually play a whole lot of short time different artsy games like Limbo, antichamber, Swappe, etc.

I think it might depend on how they were developed/published. For instance, id games that came on shareware floppies would probably count as 'indie', but once they got big enough to publish, would be the archetypal 'AAA' game.

LoL/DOTA 2 would probably count as 'indie' in my book, as would 'Counterstrike' - those were games whose geneses were in the mod community. But there are certainly grey areas - L4D started out (internally) as a mod of Half Life/Counterstike, but does that mean it's 'indie'?

Anyway, not meaning to start a debate on the 'nature' of indie, it seems to me that there is a grey area as well as some starkly black and white areas.

In terms of hours played, AAA. Pretty much all of my gaming time is on BF4 these days.

I would say that I spend more time on AAA since I generally dedicate most of my gaming time to 1 multiplayer game for prolonged periods of time, but in terms of games played, more indies have been played.

I don't know for sure what the breakdown is in my case but as a rough estimate:

10% new, AAA titles
70% old, AAA or AA titles (by old, I mean ~2006 and older)
20% indie titles

So, strictly speaking, it's 80% AAA or AA, 20% indie.

I also occasionally play really old DOS games, but it's mostly for nostalgia and I just 'revisit' the games without actually playing all the way through.

In theory I prefer AAAs but DRM usually keeps me away so I mostly play old stuff and well budgeted but not megahyped games from second-tier publishers like Deep Silver. I like the idea of indie games but I don't care for platformers, roguelikes or tower defense which rules out 90% of the rather strongly genre-defined indie game industry.

Close to 50/50 for me. I spend about half my time playing a small number of AAA titles, and the other half playing a larger number of Indie titles.

Mostly indie games now. Civ5 is the only regular AAA game I play right now, the rest is mostly indies with the occasional AAA that I find on major steam discounts for the GOTY editions, or through some charity thing like humble bundle etc.

I hate hunting for addons so I just wait for the complete (GOTY) set to be on steam sale. Also dislike heavy DRM so stuff like Sim City etc are a no go for my wallet.

Indie games filled my time after the paid addons BS became a common practice, they're cheap and usually complete right when I get them, and the gameplay can sometimes be interesting and creative in ways that AAA games often avoid due to risk involved when making a one size fit all product.

I played one game last year. Borderlands 2. That was it.

My time is pretty evenly split. Thanks to Steam sales and PlayStation Plus I don't have to spend more than a couple bucks and I can play tons of AAA games and some indies, and my phone/tablet gaming is mostly indie stuff.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
