my ? is, is there ANY plan out there in the world that allows cell phone
to txt msg UNLIMITED per month?

I don't know, I pay for a set limit with Alltel as well as these other services, but I would like to know if anyone has ever reached 1000 msgs in a month... That would amazing.

do you guys find text messages to be benifical? really i don't see much of a point to them, i mean you have a cell phone, just make the damn call, least that's how i look at it

maybe you all can fill me in on why this is a good thing

Sprint is $15 a month for unlimited data. Not worth it to me though, I canceled my vision service as soon as the free trial ran out.

My PoV as well, getbornagain. I can see some extenuating circumstances...like business meetings and such but why bother on a regular basis when it's faster to call?

Sometimes I gotta get a message to my wife and she might be in a lecture or something, then a text message doesn't disturb anyone. Also, for me a call might cost a buck or two, but a text message is 20 cents I think.

I used to think they were silly, but they do come in handy if you know the person can't take a call but you have to leave a quick message.

I don't get any included with my calling plan, I have to pay something like .09 for every one I send with verizon.

well i suppose i can see where noise and/or expence is a issue, but goodnes one might think we never got along without cells...ah well not the computer and/or internet is a different issue ...but for someone with no roaming in the states and a load of mins i just don't see the necessityand/or usefulness of it (i personnally have 250/1000 @29.99), that and the internet on cell's

1. it's slow
2. it's usually restriced to specific sites
3. it's expensive
4. ah one more thing, why in the hell would i want to browse the internet on my damned monocolor v60i for a buck a minute cingular!

I use it in class, when I must. This weekend when I was in Santa Barbara, I texted my friend to wish her a happy b-day, 'cause we weren't allowed to make calls and time was scarce. Good thing about text is you can save it and send it later!

I thought it was $10/month for unlimited Vision. It was when I started up my 5300 cameraphone last December. Maybe it's up to $15 now....no idea. The wife pays the bills.....

I'm pretty sure that for Internet and messaging, etc. Sprint is the best deal with their unlimited offering....

yes it is me. i average 1300 - 2400 messages monthly. you'd be surprised
how awesome conversations are carried all over the place using this
service... and cingular charges 10 cents for every message which sucks!

most ppl who do this are not americans. go to the philippines and they are
very RARELY caught TALKING on the phone. the whole WORLD text pages
all except us stubburn americanos.

T-Mobile : 2.99 for 300 or 6.99 for 1000. Overage is $0.05 per message.

One reason to have SMS messageing is for alerts. For example, I have the days weather sent to my phone every morning, and the lottery numbers twice a week, thats 39 messages a month right there.

Text messages are incredibly useful when a message you want to leave is mainly one-way traffic...

e.g.
"On way home now, but stuck in traffic, will probably be an hour or so yet..."

Or if you're busy and don't really want to disturb everything you're doing...

Other than that, as mentioned, they're CHEAP! Helps if you're a poor student ,

However, dont plan on asking questions with SMSes if you are planning on more than a mono-syllibic answer. Cuz I find that i wind up spending more time and $$ sending text messages than it would take to have the conversation by voice.

Firstly i dont own a mobile phone because there evil, but

1) In countries outside the US Text is bigger than voice calls
2) Use ICQ to send the sms, i've got about 50 shell acounts with friends mobile numbers and use them to send the sms at no charge. This works for Aus, China, Japan, UK, Sweden and USA at least for me and my friends. Also when they reply it goes back to your icq account
