WAN hardware

ok fine. my other thread got shot down. oh well. but i wanna talk about
this stuff okay? nothing wrong with that.

i gotta purchase a WAN pcimcia card for a laptop (sony vaio) and a
wan cable router as well.

will a 802.11b 11mbps @ $39.99 be fine for what i need?
-these get around 900~1100 feet range.

or will those 802.11a/b/g @ 54mbps cards running at $79.99 to $119.99 be a better choice?
-these get over 1600+ feet range without an external antenna.

and the cable router (WAN), which brand is the best?
- netgear? linksys? d-link? smc? microsoft? other?

"G" IMHO, never A, G is better for apartments/ garden homes etc. Where lots of people live close together.

And make damn sure you lock it down. especially if your ISP starts capping your downloads after a point.

Linksys now that Cisco has bought them.
