Acer Travelmate 8000

Wed Aug 18, 2004 12:03 pm

Hey, I'm thinking about dishing out for an Acer Travelamte 8003 LCi. Has anyone had any experience with it?

The specs are as follows:
Pentium M 1.6 GHZ
60GB HDD
256 MB RAM (might dish out some extra dogh to go for 512)
Ati Mobility Radeon 9700 w/ 128 MB RAM

The price is about 62,000 NT.

That translates to less than 2000 USD.

Spill extra for the 512, no question.

My friend and I have the exact same laptop, same make and everything. It's actually fairly popular in my uni, a fair few people have them.

My laptop definitly feels an ickle bit snappier in everything I do than his...

If you ever work with maths programs like Matlab or anything requiring large amounts of data manipulation, you'll be glad for the extra...

What's the system for then?

Matlab...ah... engineering student's nightmare...

Mostly just net browsing, some DVD watching...

I do want to play some games on this thing...i know I can't expect superb performance, but I do want it to be decent. Any thoughts on that, mate?
