good PDA for student?

Thu Dec 02, 2004 5:13 am

I'm looking primarily at the Tungsten E; it seems to hit the sweet spot between price and preformance. I'd rather have the T5 but I can't afford even close to that much money. I want a good screen, and a PDA I can use for light note taking in classes (upper levels still get a real spiral). I also like lots of memory and the ability to transfer Word files. However, I've heard of some problems with battery life on the Tungsten E, and mixed reports on reliability. Is there better in the price range? My biggest concern is the screen; my eyes are lousy and even a mediocre screen gives me a splitting headache. However, 250 is the absolute limit on price; I just can't shell out more than that (even that's a stretch). What are ya'lls reccomendations?

Thanks

Sorry if its OT, but buy a keyboard while your at it. Its worth it.
I used to attend class carrying only my m505 & Keyboard.

I have a Tungsten C and love it. The built in keyboard works great. You probably could pick them up fairly cheap now.

If you look at the pocket pc end, you should still be able to get an iPaq 1900 or 2200 for less than 250. They're a little less user friendly than a palm powered PDA but the operating system is definitely much more powerful. Just one thing, STAY AWAY FROM THE rz1715. If you're willing to shell out slightly more, i think Tapwave has the zodiac on sale for 279 now. The Zodiac is a great PDA and i highly reccomend you buy it.

@ office depot you can get the Tungsten E Hard case pack for 200. But yea, i've had a fair share of people come into the store with a problem with their Tungsten E. If it works the E is exactly what you want, if not or you don't want to risk it, the Sony PDA's have the best QC i've seen.

I have the H2210 and I love it. It's awesome.

List of things I do with it:
Music
Movies
Audio notes (incl. recording lectures)
Text notes (diagrams + external keyboard)
Schedualing
Videogames (Quake, Doom, DrugWars, Age of Empires)
TV Remote

And now that I have PCAnywhere 11.5, I can access everything on my home PC using a wireless CF card.

Awesome.
So how fast is your car, anyway?

Oh, about 1200mhz.
