Yonah on sale already

Wed Mar 02, 2005 4:00 am

This is rather hilarious. I found a site that claims to be selling laptops with "Yonah" as a CPU option. Now, for those of you without the Intel map of Israel decoder ring, Yonah is the dual-core Pentium M that is supposed to be available Q1 of next year. Who would've guessed you they would sneak it out so far ahead of time :P

Bloody typo.

Anyway, what's the real name of the 533MHz FSB P-Ms? I've forgotten.

The cores are still called dothan, as the 400MHz FSB P-Ms. The new platform is called sonoma...

This year's Centrino platform is codenamed "Sonoma":
Processor: Dothan (7xx, 2MB cache)
Chipset: Alviso (915 PM/GM)

Next year's Centrino platform is codenamed "Napa":
Processor: Yonah (dual core, better SSE/FP?)
Chipset: Calistoga

I knew what you were talking about. I also know your ATM PIN number and that you're worried you didn't lock your front door when you leave home this morning. You need to learn to control that telepathy man.

That auto screen dimming thing is pretty trick though. Dunno if that's old news or not since I don't keep up with laptops but that seems pretty neat.
