I have an Ironman Triathlon I bought the week after I got married & the battery in that lasted 9 years! I usually wear that everyday. I've changed the band twice.

I wear a watch all of the time for basically the same reasons that other people in the thread have mentioned. It's more accurate and convenient than a cell phone and it adds a bit of class to your appearance.

Well, cell phones sync to a tower to get their time, so they're rather accurate.

A wristwatch and/or a wedding ring is really the only appropriate jewelery for a man to wear.
Only pimps and overpaid, steroid using sports "stars" wear gold neck chains and other affectations.
I have worn the same watch for the last 20 years...a Longines Conquest.

Hey guys, check out this watch I just bought. Pretty sweet, right? Man... there are SO many cheap watches on eBay. You could sneeze and accidentally buy two.

Yeah I like my G-Shock as well. I wear it when I work out plus its solar so less battery issues. I have the Luminox Navy SEAL watch and a Luminox Field Watch that look nice and are casual. And the Tag 2000 is good for classy or casual.

I used to wear a watch constantly when I was younger, but I would always break them at work or snag them on things while I was working at home. By then I carried a cel phone around all the time so I didn't see a real reason to wear a watch.

I quit wearing watches at least 10 years ago, even before I had a daily cellphone.

As a kid I fiddled with many different ones (transformer watch anyone?) but getting older they became somewhat of an irritation mentally and physically.
The bands all rubbed or at least made me aware they were "there" in some form. I got a couple fairly expensive ones as gifts, quality was not an issue.
The worst part is nothing makes a tedious day seem to drag that much longer than having a clock in direct sight the whole time. I even "hide" my desktop clock, if I need to know the time I just check and if its really important I set alarms or alerts.

My mental clock seems quite accurate as well, I find myself waking up 5-10mins in front of my alarm on days I have important or fixed things scheduled. If I'm working and have to do X in 1 hour, I'm pretty much spot on without needing to check.

The only time it truly slips is when its a day off and I'm having fun, but then I don't care. (if I "have" to be somewhere or do something at an exact time, its not a true day off)

i'm a student, 21, staying in a co-ed dorm. i share my room with my English girlffiend, who's a blonde, 19. both of us have not taken off our watches for the last 1-1 1/2 years. i wear a round metal watch with brown leather bands, face up. she wears an oval metal watch with black leather staps, face down. we never put of our watches; sleep, shower, toilet, swimming, sunbathing, yoga, massage- all included. we have been having sex together for more than 1 year, daily, and our watches stay put when we make love. after the sex is over, i sleep in my briefs while she goes to bed in her bra and panty, off course with our watches on our left wrists. ocassionally, we visit the beach for a swim and a sunbath. i enjoy massaging the bikini-clad hot body of my girlfriend with oil, while i'm wearing my briefs and both of us are wearing, obviously, our watches. both of us bathe also with our watches. it's the same with most of the couples in our dorm. we feel really unsmart and uncomfortable without our watches. in fact, we can't sleep, focus on our studies or enjoy sex sans it.

So I bought a new watch because I got tired of replacing the leather band on my old one every year. This is it:

Has a black dial instead of the blue one shown.

been wearing timex ironman watches for some time, in watch #1 the light died after about a year or so
watch #2 got a random crack in the plastic/glass whatever and eventually the wristband snapped off,
and watch #3 has been worn for about a year now almost non-stop.
the band on #2 wasn't worth the money to get replaced. It made sense to just replace it with another watch, since all of em have been around $30
I almost never take my watches off, unless i need to then its like 1-4 seconds of being watchless.
watch #2 with the broken band had felt wrong by not having a watch on at all and having to rely on my cell phone for time :/

Got my first watch almost 40 years ago and if I had it cleaned it'd still run & keep excellent time.

One watch, digital, ~$20, and it only comes off for playing basketball. I've heard the "but I can just check my cell phone" from my girlfriend however when we're together she seems to find it quicker and easier to just ask me for the time.
