Need a new GPS, any recommendations?

So my GPS got stolen the other day, so I need a new one
it was an old Garmin nuvi200 I think

so what is a good current model under 200$ to get?
one thing about Garmin I did not like was having to pay 50$ a year for map updates!
is there a GPS with free map updates yet?
I dont need anything fancy like telling me the weather in berlin or anything.

are all GPS really inaccurate? one thing I hated about my nuvi was I would be on the highway but the GPS kept thinking I was on the frontage road
this always happens in cities, I guess the tall buildings are blocking the satelites?
is this inaccuracy common to all models or was mine just getting old

Maybe a phone with GPS software on it?

I would recommend a craigslist iPhone 3G or 3GS + gps software.

In my experience this is quite accurate. I've never had accuracy problems with it.

I'm also in favor of a phone with GPS.

Here in Finland we have Nokia's 5230 with free navigation (3.2" touchscreen). The phone without a contract is 130€. Don't know how much it is if it's subsidized. Well, I think nowadays every new Nokia phone comes with free navigation (assuming it has GPS-chip).

Don't know about accuracy. I have a 6220 Classic, never had any problems with that, at least. Though there aren't that many tall buildings around here (or at least not that close to each other that it would matter...).

STICK...WITH...GARMIN.

I've got a 255W and it's great. Sure, there's newer, but I've no qualms.

but normally in the car I run pandora or something so I cant leave the GPS open on the phone
also not sure how accurate the GPS on the phone is nowadays

I want to stick with garmin but I heard tomtom gives away free maps?
in two years 2 maps is 100$....
