Speed Test on your Cell Phone

Fri Nov 12, 2010 3:38 pm

I installed Speed Test no too long ago and ran it at different times of the day and the results are interesting at least. I am on Telus, so everyone else may hbe different. Here is what I got:

10:37 p.m. on wifi - 7.7mbps down, 0.9mbps up (alot of people in bed)
11:08 p.m. on 3G - 2.9mbps down, 0.275 mbps up (alot of people in bed)
7:06 p.m. on wifi - 9.17 mbps down, 0.92 mbps up (alot of people up)
12:10 p.m. on 3G - 2.19 mbps down, 1.15 mbps up
4:51 p.m. on 3G - 1.82 mbps down, 0.066 mbps up
10:51 a.m. on 3G - 1.85 mbps down, 0.058 mbps up

I picked the last three times strategically since at 12 alot of people go to lunch, 5 is around the time people go home, 10 in the morning is when most people go on their coffee breaks.

I can't get a good wireless signal anywhere near my work to test the wifi part of this (even the starbucks). I work and live in Toronto, so tower signal traffic is usually constant I would think - taht's why I picked those times of night as well. I still have to do a 3G test at 7 p.m.

Any of you guys/gals tried this out on your phone?

I have an HTC Desire.
