Viewsonic tablet instore impressions

So I checked it out at staples today.

IMHO, not ready for prime time.

Tried to go to a web site on the browser at it didn't respond with a failure page or anything, just seemed to do nothing. I chalked it up to something being funky with the store's wifi. I pressed the home button and I thought maybe the tablet was broken but after about 30 seconds it went to the home-weather screen. I pressed the calender app and it loaded the outside of the frame and after it failed to do anything for about 30 seconds I gave up and put it down.

So maybe its a defective unit or maybe it needs a firmware/software update or maybe its just a turd.

Its my warning to make sure you check this one out for yourself before buying.

Besides those potentially just because of a the unit not working right problems... there's the massive issue that these won't have access to the Google apps without rooting. Even then having app support is a long shot.

These Android tablets are useless until the actual OS is ready for them and it's not, Google has admitted as much.
