Fri Jan 07, 2011 9:46 am

Hi Guys, my sister is in the market for a new laptop and would like you to help choose between these 3 systems, the computer will not be used for gaming, but will be running multiple applications at the same time,eg IRC, live msnger, yahoo msnger, screen reader for visually impared, skype, multiple web browsers, ms office, media player.

i know the answer is probably all of them are suitable for this kind of light usage but would just like opinions on which one you would choose from the 3

I'd go with the last one because its 1600x900 resolution over 1366x768 of the first 2. Performance wise you probably won't notice a difference.

Hi Dyn0mutt,

As your sister does not intend to use that laptop for gaming purposes, based on the information given, any of the three models would be suitable for her particular requirements.

However of the three models listed, I would recommend the Acer 5742-i5, as this offers a large capacity hard drive of 500 GB, which is suitable for storing any music, video or pictures. In addition to this, the screen to this model also offers the highest resolution of 1600 x 900, which will offer High Definition wide screen viewing!

This model also features the best processor of the three models, and the 4GB memory (RAM) will allow a variety of tasks to be completed more smoothly, at the same time.

Hope that this helps with your purchase!

Thanks

How about you try this ?

Just upgrade to 4 GB Ram and you should have a fast laptop (I mean enough for what she does) for much less investment.

EDIT: BTW, the 3rd option that you are looking at is not bad at all. :)
