A friend is trying out kickstarter to launch an iphone dock and he might need a little push to get funded. (use to design those cool case at SGI)

So if you haven't found the right dock yet, here is an alternative

The selling point is that he uses glass and only metal for a solid feel and allow tilting.

My hope is that enought people find the design cool so he can continue to bring his style with more projects.
I haven't pushed him in that direction yet, but I kind of wish he would bring SGI styling next to PC enclosures...

It would help if I posted an actual link

Has it been tested with the Otter Box cases?

I cant confirm, only Richard can at this stage.

But this show a relatively thick case in use with the dock.

Is it just a regular dock, or is it an audio dock as well? The round space would be perfect for some speakers

Looks like just a dock, and yea, that extra volume should be used for additional functions like a couple of small speakers or something else, otherwise it's just a waste of material.

Also, not sure about that demo video from the link - why would someone use it as a "stand" for typing text or video chat if the iPhone is already lightweight and small enough to be held in hands (or one hand, even when typing) while using such functions? :-?

Also, isn't it a little bit late designing a dedicated iPhone 4-compatible dock? Next-gen iPhone will be released this year, and it most likely will have a different connector (maybe even at different location), or have some kind of inductive charging method making such vertically-oriented docks unnecessary...
