The Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC One X are probably the flagship Android phones at the moment.
The best value was the unlocked Galaxy Nexus for $349 (with Jelly Bean) from the Google store. That is, if you can find a carrier that charges less if you bring your own handset (vs buying a phone from them on subsidy). This also gets you out of contracts which is nice.
