Funny, I have signal anywhere there is T-Mobile or AT&T service. I haven't yet come up short anywhere but at my current house, which is in a crater. I know I've roamed on AT&T for 3G data several times, I get a message about it.

That's nice. They don't charge extra or cut off service at all for roaming on ATT 3G or EDGE?

After some additional debating, I went ahead and ordered the Galaxy Nexus direct from Google Play. The S2 and the S3 are really nice phones (I've seen and handled both) but that is a lot of money to be tying up in a phone. Plus, there are the inevitable follow-up accessories. Apart from being a little slow and running an outdated Android version, my Nexus One has been quite adequate so this ought to be a big enough upgrade to hold me for another two years.

Thanks to everyone for the help!

I think you'll be happy, ludi. Looks like a great phone.

Forge - That's weird. When I was on the Monthly 4G plan, I went to one particular town (Canton, IL) which is shown as partner roaming. I had voice/SMS but no data at all - not even a 2G or E to indicate I was roaming on EDGE. An MMS message would not go through.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

I'll try to find another T-Mo-free but AT&T-enabled area around here, repeat the experiment. Not an easy combination of factors to hit, though.
Please don't edit my signature for me. Thanks.

T-Mo??

2G only throughout VT. Guess I'm still stuck with VZW.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

It's fine, if it works for you that's awesome. Just didn't work for me in the one area close by that I knew of.

It's here! Still getting acquainted but initial impressions are good, particularly upgrading straight from Android 2.2 to 4.1. Hardware-wise, it's obviously not the same shock-and-awe factor as the S3 but it should be everything I need for a while.

I don't want you to go out of your way especially either but I'd be interested to know this. If the Monthly 4G plans overage is actually just as good as contract or Value Plans that would be a big plus for T-Mobile.
