Droid Razr issue

Tue Dec 25, 2012 9:15 am

OK so I've had a Droid Razr (the plain original version, no HD MAXX or whatever the small one is)

When I have google talk open (the application) and someone sends me a message and the phone begins to ring and refuses to stop. It is driving me insane!

It only happens if i'm actually looking at the message thread actively. The only way to get rid of it is to restart the phone. Since the talk app is part of the OS there doesn't seem to be a single process I can kill to see if that stops it.

I've tried to dig through the different alert settings but to no avail.

Anyone seen this before? I feel like it should be pretty common, but google isn't helping.

and Merry Christmas!

Wikipedia tells me that the Razr should have Android 4.0.4 which should be similar enough to my Galaxy Nexus running 4.1.1 so try this:
Go to Settings->Apps. Then swipe to the right until you get to "All". Scroll down until you find "Talk" then hit "Force stop".

In any case, that's certainly a weird bug.

I have since figured out how to force stop the program. That does stop it without taking the time to restart the phone.

I also sent a bug report in to google.

The phone is scheduled to be updated to Jelly Bean, maybe that will fix it without the need to rooting?

There isn't any equivalent to notification center is there?

Jelly Bean was a pretty significant update to Android so... maybe? It's hard to say especially with any customizations that Motorola throws in on top but I doubt they'd make too many modifications, if any, to the functionality of the Talk app.

I've only used up to iOS4 so I'm not 100% sure what's different now but as far as I can tell, the "shade" displays much of the same information. It shows what messages and emails you have, app statuses, system messages, and the Google Now stuff. Something you're looking for in particular?
