How to open Sony Vaio PCG-6K1L?

Mon Aug 19, 2013 5:31 pm

Trying to open this up to clean out the fan. We got all the obvious screws out of the bottom (all marked with arrows) and keyboard layer lifts all around the edge, but it seems to be held somewhere around the middle of the keyboard (letter gh area). No screws hidden under memory module etc. Any hints on what's holding it or pointers to service manuals?

OK, got it worked out.

Two screws on bottom in square holes go in to top of keyboard, with those out there are tabs above F4 and F12 that need to be unclipped then keyboard lifts off unplugging ribbon cable by flicking over side of connector. Rest of screws on bottom plus 4 screws on top (hole for 5th had no screw) then top plastic layer lifts off with 2 more push fit ribbons plus 2 speaker connectors.

No real dust bunnies in this one but good to check.
