OnePlus One pre-order on October 27

Mon Oct 20, 2014 3:47 pm

There will be a pre-order hour next week, with prep work that you can do beforehand to speed up the process:

We will see how fast they "run out of stock".

At this point I have to wonder if they're just exploiting the "Studio 54 Effect" (using artificial scarcity to create highly-visible lines of potential customers to enhance perceived desirability)

Must be, Ubergerbil, but at the price they're not actually making any money. I wonder if they're selling a limited number so that they can sell the rest on eBay at inflated prices because of their scarcity or something. I don't quite get what they're trying to accomplish with this phone anymore.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

That may very well be, but you really can't dispute the top end specs with the lower mid-range price.

I know 4 owners of the One in my circle of friends already, but of course they are mostly geeks.

They are making money, just not as much. Usually high-end phones have bill-of-materials of ~$200.
