generic NIC drivers

Tue Jun 11, 2002 6:03 am

I have a laptop that has a built in cat5 connector and I have tried every stinking driver from the manufacturer and nothing works. I would like to know if there is a generic ethernet controller that I could use.

Which laptop is it? I know of at least one model of IBM Thinkpad that has a RJ45 connector but also needs a seperate internal LAN card to actually use it. Or you could always just get a PCMCIA or CardBus NIC, there are several to choose from.

Exactly, What kind of laptop is it? Just a hunch, most built in NICs that I have encountered are Intel based. You might want to try those.
