Network Problems..Need Help!!

Here is my situation, I have a home network set up and one computer suddenly this morning cannot identify the network.

I have everything hard wired no wirless. I tried switching around the computers on the router ports, but still the one computer cannot find the network. So its not the router port. I have powered down both the router and the modem just incase they were the problem but still no luck.

The computer that cannot find the network has an EVGA X58 motherboard with Dual LAN Ports, I tried both ports with no changes.

I tried a couple system restores with no luck, the system restores say they cannot complete for some reason.

This computer has Norton 2010 on it as do all my computers so it should have been safe from any outside attack or virus's.

All my computers are on Windows 7, however the computer that cannot identify the network is Windows 7 Ultimate and the others are simply Windows 7 Home.

Networking is not my strong suit, I dont know what to do next. This computer was working fine last night when I shut it down and when it powered up this morning it cannot identify the network.

Ideas please?

When I try to do an IPCONFIG/Renew in the command line, I get the following error:

"An Error occured while renewing interface local area connection: The RPC Server is Unavailable"

Ideas?

Is the light on at both the motherboard connection and the router connection? If not you likely have a bad cable.

I tried a different cable with no results.

Try this:

Start > Run, then type in: services.msc

Look for the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service in the list and make sure it's started. If not, right click and try to start it.

If it starts, see if you can refresh your IP.

That service is up and running, however, the Windows Firewall service wont work.

I tried starting it manually and it will not start.

I am trying a system restore from the Win7 disk instead of the Restore from the harddrive.

NO matter what System Restore fails, it give me "An Unspecified error" when trying to restore.

I am at a loss at this point

Very strange....I ran the Start-up Recovery tool just for giggles and it said it found and fixed a problem. Which odd since it had no problems starting up at all.

At any rate, when the computer restarted everything was working and I got a message that said my Recovery was successful. In fact I am posting this from the the computer I had this problem with to begin with.

I dont get it, but its fixed and running.
