I see no point of this thread except for e-peen comparison.

I miss symmetric upload speeds. 3-20Mbps down, .8-2Mbps up on a 10/1 "Turbo" connection from Time Warner.
It occasionally makes off-site backups painful.

And yes, it's all e-peen.

Once you do you can't go back. Now I feel uncomfortable when my machine is not transferring something at any moment.

I have 14.88 down, 16.20 up (maybe capped because of wireless via WPA2) right now, and I have a very bad network provider. There are 500Mbit packages available here for cheap

Sigbritt will now be able to enjoy 1,500 high definition HDTV channels simultaneously. Or, if there is nothing worth watching there, she will be able to download a full high definition DVD in just two seconds.
Hot damn. You'd never have to pre-download your HD p0rn again!

I don't even know why some people complain. Here in Kansas, the "best" you can get is 55 down and 5.5 up. That costs 99/month too.

Depending on where exactly in Kansas(Olathe & Merriam) you live you can get 50/50 fiber connection through SureWest. It is "only" $191.99/month option though
Edit: BTW, what ISP are you talking about? I'm switching to 25/5 + basic land line for $77/month, still have some time to cancel it (installation is scheduled on 11/23) if I can find a better option. Considering that I'm switching from 15/1 + basic land line for approx. $80/month through TWC it looks like a good deal, but I would not mind to find something even better.

I didn't know about SureWest. Although, since I live in Lawrence the selections are VERY limited. We can really only get DSL from the likes of AT&T and maybe VZW. U-Verse is available in about half of the city, but generally not in ANY apartments. Sunflower Broadband has a super monopoly here. They "best" package they offer is 50/1. You offer "up to" 50 down and 1 up? Doesn't make any sense.
I'm assuming you are in the KC area then. The 55/5.5 I was referring to is Cox's highest package in Kansas. It doesn't look like it's available in the KC area though.
http://ww2.cox.com/residential/kansas/i ... ternet.coxAvailability: Cox High Speed Internet Ultimate is available in a number of communities in Northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith, Arkansas. Cox High Speed Internet Ultimate is also available in multiple Kansas communities including Dodge City, Garden City, Great Bend, Hutchinson, Manhattan, Newton, Pittsburg, Salina, Topeka and Wichita.
Why on earth they would offer that in a place like Great Bend or Garden and not expand on the KC market is beyond me. I imagine that has a lot to do with TWC though...

Wow, I thought that selection is limited in my area, didn't know that it is even worse in Lawrence. So, no SureWest and no even TWC for you?

Yes, I'm from Overland Park. Quick trip to Cox's site shows that it does not serve my area.

I have the problem that I only have a 100Mbit interface on the firewall, and a Juniper SSG with gigabit is $800 or so. Going straight to the network on the laptops gig i get 130/12. That said, 95mbit is quite enough since most places wont fill it anyway, and having a nice firewall is more awesome then 95 > 130. While still expensive compared to the ethernet connections some get, since its a Docsis 3 connection, it's still only $55/month, and better yet, my work pays for it
