Dynamic DHCP doesn't work for WinXP

Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:01 pm

I'm switching from static to dynamic DHCP - using a D-Link ebr-2310 router. No problem with 3 Win7 boxes. All but one WinXP box will not acquire network address. They will work statically. I pulled a Win2k box out of storage and it worked. Any ideas?

Try temporarily disabling any software firewalls. Perhaps the DHCP port is being blocked.

UDP port 67 and 68 are used by DHCP.

Did you try stopping then starting the DHCP service?

Also, the TCP/IP stack might be corrupt.

In Windows Services, DHCP Client was set to Manual not Auto for the XP boxes save 1. Setting to Auto fixed them.
