Internet keeps hanging

I'm running Vista and using Firefox to access the web.

The web keeps hanging after a bit of use. It just stops loading any pages, if you refresh the page still nothing happens.

So I close firefox but it is still there in the task manager and you can;t end the process. So I try IE. same thing no access to the web.

The only way to get connection back is to restart.

The connection to the network is all there and I can even send messages via MSN, but firefox and IE don't work.

Have another PC running XP and no problems.

The Vista PC is wireless and my XP PC is running on hardwired ethernet.

Any suggestions????????????

Are you still able to ping websites and get responses?

Are you able to browse by IP, rather than domain name?

apologies on my lack on knowledge, but can you tell me how to ping a website then I can test it.
