Obviously the safety mechanisms should be in place so that a software glitch doesn't set the thing on fire, but it's certainly quite possible that sans the jailbreak this incident wouldn't have happened. It sucks and all, but I can certainly see Apple's side as well as yours on this.

Well, it's not like you're a typical Apple user. Therefore they probably don't care about you.
