I'll have to agree with Captain Ned. Db Poweramp is the best program I've found for converting between the various audio formats.

I assume you just want to do a batch convert for what you already have then in the future you'll just get ALAC in the first place? I wouldn't pay for a program unless you want other features too. There are loads of free, simple converters if you do some googling too. db poweramp free is fine though, the one downside to the free version is that it will only run on a single CPU core.

Another vote for dBpoweramp. If you're not after all the features maybe something like ffmpeg? I will leave it up to you to work out the commands. There are some other ideas here http://superuser.com/questions/162899/p ... on-windows

I just converted about 500GB of FLAC to ALAC using XLD. Worked like a charm, can continuously add files to the que of work being done and can use all available cores. Also, it's free. Had to correct a lot of tags using kid3 though.

The best way to enable iTunes to play flac audio files without quality loss is to re-wrap flac to iTunes supported AIFF, WAV, Apple Lossless, AAC, MP3 audio. That's pretty simple gesture.
