Case problem? Any Ideas?

Sun Nov 23, 2003 11:02 am

Ive final bought a new case and it works fine. Only problem is that it has LEDs on the front, but when i press the button to switch them on the computer shuts down and does not start again untill the power cord is removed. Any ideas as to why this is happening as i want them to work. Thanks in advance. :(

which mother board do you have?
Which PSU?
have you checked the way the wires are setup from the leds to the mobo?
if they are incorrectly wired that could cause it.

I can post a pic if you like. The power connectors for the leds fit onto the psu, and is switched on by a button.

Here is the pic . I will dissasemble it and see if there is any shorts. My psu is a 400 watt so it cant be for lack of power.

If it plugs straight onto a molex connection then either:
1. the connector is seriously dodgy. (which I very much doubt)

2. there is something wrong with the wiring on the leds, it should be really easy to check provided everything isnt factory sealed. (could also affect below)

3. It's somehow connected to the motherboard, wrongly? like is it setup to imitate the HDD light or anything?

It just lights up and looks good. Ill have a look later (I dont want to take it back as it took my ages cleaning up the wires and stuff.) Cheers for the help anyway.

Problem solved. One of the wires was shorting the case. :D
