Molex pin remover worth the dosh?

Thu Mar 25, 2004 12:42 am

I don't have a pic of how it was before I did ANYTHING, but I have a midway and a final. Not bad considering I spent a total of about 8 bucks for some splitloom and a roll of electrical tape.

At some point I'll find a way to get rid of that black and yellow wire right at the front, it goes to the CC blacklight in the top, and it's a little too short to conceal inside the HD cage area. I'll prolly just splice the wire to make it longer.

Decided to recycle this thread instead of creating yet ANOTHER one.

I'm going to switch all my Splitloom over to braided sleeving, but I'm saving up for University and a PDA right now, so every dollar counts.

Is a molex pin remover worth the $15 CAD or can I get by without it?

It's worth it, IMO. If you have time to burn and good hands, you can get by without it, but it speeds things up dramatically. If you're really pinched for cash, though, just say fuggit and deal. It's not life and death.

Yeah, and some anti-depressants. When I was doing the sleeving of my cables, I almost ripped the cables clear out of the PSU. You need to undo 8 little tabs per molex connector. THEN you have to get the sleeving on. At the end of the night, my hands were shaking and I wasn't pleased with how much cleaner the case looked until the next day when I stopped fuming.

2 days later, I saw the molex wire remover in a HardOCP ad.
