Info on LCD drive bay displays?

Postposted on Fri Jul 12, 2002 4:53 pm

Hi!
I've got a Lian Li case with a window and a couple of blue cold cathodes. It's simple, but I think it looks quite nice. I am now thinking about what else I could do to my case and I've heard that you can put a little LCD display into a 5 1/4" drive bay and display system info and even winamp stuff on it.

I don't really know much at all about this LCD display stuff, so I was wondering if anyone can point me at any good articles and list some good makes/models of displays. Also, are any of these displays sold in the UK from overclocking sites? I've tried a couple of sites, but can't find anything.

Ideally, I want a display that would fit in a single drive bay and have a blue backlight and preferably come with a drive plate so I don't have to make my own (yes, ok, I'm lazy!). I'm not fussed about having a keypad for the display. Also, I want it to be fairly cheap.

I've done some more searching and posting on other forums and I've decided on which LCD I want:

There's a review of it here: http://www.bit-tech.net/review/97/
There's also an article on Matrix Orbital LCD's here: http://www.bit-tech.net/article/29/

CrystalFontz. Their displays have worked for me and they have a brushed aluminun face that matches your case. :)
