So I am planning on getting my case for my rig first, just need some opinons on the case and which would be the better deal.

Case 1

I can get this case off of newegg for $93 shipped. Without a power supply.

Case 2

I can get that case for $129.86 off of tiger direct with a 400w power supply.

If you like case #1 what kind of power supply do you recommend?

It depends on what kind of ps is included with the 2nd one. If it's just a generic one, then I'd suggest getting the 1st case, and buy yourself a good ps from Antec, Enermax, or even Sparkle.

400w should be enough, unless your running alot of peripherals. If that's the case, then I'd recommend an Antec true power 550w.

Hope this helps. :)

- SmartPower
- ATX12V (P4 compliant)
- SL400

So I don't know if thats good or not.

Get the Antec, a proven power supply. VERY solid cases (they retain noise well) That and you'd be buying it from Newegg - never a bad thing. :)

I have the Antec Plus1080AMG (no window) case and it's excellent. Mine came with a Antec TruePower 430w PSU, but was replaced with an Enermax PSU. The TruePower PSUs are Antec's top-of-the-line units, so go with one of these if getting a case without a PSU. The only drawback that these PSUs have are that they get very warm. The reason is that the fans run very low RPM to help reduce noise. They are temp controlled, so they pick up speed if the case gets too hot.

Make sure you get some decent 80mm case fans, too. Antec ship their cases with cheap sleeve bearing fans. Both cases are identical except for color and the side panel window. I like the side panel fan as it blows cool air over the video card. I also like the front intake air filter. It's a great case. :)

Stay away from Tigerdirect...have had a couple bad experiences with them...horrible service...real shoddy actually, and take 4ever to process your order. Not to mention a little more expensive than newegg. Chieftec has good cases too...one with 450w on newegg for 65bucks...

Do you want a windowed case?
Do you want a different power supply other then the SL400?

If yes to both then get the PlusView1000AMG.

Do you want black. Or like the charcoal black more then the Gray?
Then the SX1040BII

Welcome to the forums, AntecRep. Love your company's cases. Any way we can get a few freebies? :D

I just built a system with case#1. It is a very nice case, although I have to admit that working with Addtronics cases (my usual brand) will really spoil you for anything else. My favorite case is the 7896A, which gives you lots of room to play. The Antec case is big, but it's no match for the 7896A in terms of sheer size and fan capacity.

What no Lian Li? Nobody suggested those. I just got one on monday. Sorry can't remember the model but it is nice. All thumbscrews. Motherboard plate (whatever it is called) pulls right out the back with the back slots. The case fans use plastic push in "screws" and has a front air filter as well as a fan voltage adjuster. Plus aluminuim (light) and black with side window.

I like the PlusView1000AMG cause I can mount a fan there to suck the heat from right about where my video card is so thats a +

Actually, it's best to have the side panel fan blowing onto the video card. Remember that hot air rises. The dual-fan PSU, along with two exhaust fans mounted right under it, will suck the hot air out of the case. I have a total of 7 case fans (including the PSU) in mine which keeps everything nice and cool.

I would go for case 1 and as far as psu is concerned i would recommend a 460 enermax, good ones
BUT if you really like quality try lian li cases they are great but more expensive,
usually what you pay is what you get...

I like both cases (I have a Antec 1080B), and you cant really go wrong with either one... It all depends on what PSU you get, and if you want to flashy window.

If you get the first case go with Antex or Enermax I've been very happy with both of those brands. However I am going to be getting this case when I do my next upgrade:

My next case

I'm tired of lugging around a large box to LAN parties. I have enough larger cases around to satisfy my needs if I needed one. I want smaller now.

Personally I'd choose case 1, it looks better, just pair it with a trueblue psu or something...
