SuperFugly: Antec P193

A case window is one thing, but a giant focking wart? OMFGUGLY.

And, it does not end there. Peek-a-boo power and reset buttons through the front door?

How hard can this be? Why is Apple the only computer company in the world that seems to be able to do this stuff right? Furthermore, why don't case companies just do a best effort rip-off of the Power Mac case?

Hah! The power/reset buttons visible with the door locked is rather funny. I would point out that none of Apple's desktop systems have lockable power buttons.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love my P193. I bought it specifically because of that 200mm fan. My priority is to cool my overclocked GPU/CPU.

Is it just me or does anyone else hate cases that require you to open a panel to turn on and off??

How often do you actually turn it on and off? I use a P180, same problem, but I just put my machine to sleep and wake it up. It gets rebooted on Patch Tuesday.

I don't understand the hate on computer doors. I never use optical drives these days and I never power down my desktop, sleep is far better.

However that side fan is ugly as sin. You can have side panel fans without a huge thing sticking out.

To be honest it's more of mental biased towards panel doors than a practical one.Cause realistically i only turn on by computer a handful of times a week.Anytime i leave or go to bed and don't have a torrrent running for instance i turn it off.As for cd's i also do 99% of driver's and installs via internet and virtual drives/iso's.So even though my complaints are not rooted into any real world scenario. Just the idea that i would have to open that panel, if i did want to use my dvd drive or power switch. Just sorta of erks me anyway's.

You can also take the door off, and it ain't bad looking.

Ehh i think my view is just slightly tainted.A friend of mine went with a p180 for a build i put together for him a few years ago.He inadvertently broke the panel door off the case to the point were you could not put it back on(literally broke the hinges).Every time i see his pc now i can't help but think of how fugly it is, and how nice it would still be with a different case.Since the pc it self still holds up fine(a e6750 build with a 8800gt both really great parts for the time). But not every case would look bad without the door. I think the cosmos line would still look pretty spiffy without the door panels.I should also note his was the original p180 i think they've done 1 or 2 redesigns since then.

Hmm, rocking a P182 and I think I used the power button 5-6 times during 2009. Haven't touched it yet in 2010. That said, the door stays in its 270-degree position 24/7 for access to the optical and floppy bays.

by just brew it!
The optical drives, power, and reset buttons on my case are behind a door, but it doesn't bother me. I don't use the optical drive all that much these days (pretty much only when I buy a new CD, to rip it to OGG format); I tend to leave the system on (so I don't need the power button much); and I actually went for more than a month on this build before realizing that I'd hooked up the reset button incorrectly (so that gives you an idea of how often I use it).

I like the clean look of the door. I don't use discs anymore and I sleep my system so the door rarely has to be used.

The left side panel is where the BigBoy 200mm intake fan is mounted. Unlike the P190, the P193 has bumped out the mount so that there is more room inside the case for large CPU coolers which was a problem on the P190.

well theres the reasoning I like the look of the case tbh although I prefer my antec 902 as it has more room
