Hi, 1st post on these fine boards
Ok I have a shiny new XP1900+ and a Epox 8KHA+DDR mobo sitting in a stock Coolermaster case, 2 80mm front fans, 1 80mm exhaust fan in top and 1 80mm exhaust fan in back, I have a ThermoEngine V60-4225 which on the box says its recommended upto the palomino 1.7ghz, stupid question time do you think its safe to use? I asked tech support at ocuk and they said no and recommended a 'Coolermaster HHC-001 super Heat-pipe', which would require me to mod my northbridge, (something I have no idea on how to do, and tbh I don't really want to do it).
Thanks for your help

You should monitor the temperature before throwing out your hsf combo away.

Yes, I monitor sys temp, cpu temp, and fan speeds using mbm5 as a matter of course, I'm just trying to save a bit of money by using my existing hsf, if its reasonably safe to use.

It's not like you're going to boot the system and it's going to burst into flames. It never hurts to give it a try. It's practically impossible to do any permanent damage as long as the heatsink is making good contack with the core and the fan is spining.

Just thought I'd let you know the results after deciding to give it a whirl.
I used Artic Silver 2 between hs/cpu and get a temp of 30deg with the cpu running at 100% load.
