i was wondering if a dual P!!! 1Ghz wuld be as good as a P4 2Ghz. bcoz i hav a dual mobos Abit VP6 and i want to know how close a dual 1Ghz will be to the 2Ghz.

depends on the task, if its smp capable I would say that in raw number crunching abilities the p4 would be slightly better... overall, the dual-p3's would be at a great disadvantage due to the memory bottleneck...

I would say the P4 would be vastly superior at almost all tasks because almost none of the 'everyday' apps are smp. Even Photoshop has barely any multi-threading at all.
Whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger. Not lifting weights doesn't kill me. Therefore, not lifting weights makes me stronger.

The dual should be better for SMP-aware apps, heavy multitasking, and generally 'smoother' (the SMP folks know what I'm talking about). For single threaded apps, games, and such, the P4 will have better performance.
