I am building a new system with socket 1156.
Here's what I have so far:
Gigabyte GA-P55m-UD2 Mobo
WD Caviar Blue 640 GB Sata II HDD
Gigabyte GTS 250
Patriot Dual-Channel DDR3 1600 RAM (2x2GB)
Antec Earth-Watts 430w
Antec Six Hundred Case
The only thing I lack is the CPU (and perhaps a CPU cooler---but I don't plan to overclock and I plan on going with an intel OEM cooler.
I'm heavily considering the i7 875k. Even though I'm not planning on over-clocking now, it will perhaps be better in the future, should I need to do so. Also, it's almost the identical price as the i7 860 or i7 870. For some reason, the i7 870 receives some pretty mixed reviews, with a significant number of users complaining about a heat issue. So, I will probably stay away from that CPU. My question, is that, since the 875k comes without a heatsink and fan, is it possible to fit an OEM heatsink designed for the socket 1366 i7 9xx series of processors (like a fan/heatsink from the i7 930, 950, 970, 975 etc) on it?
I'd really appreciate any pointers. Thanks a lot.
