Overclocking the i7 950

Hey guys,

I am trying to overclock my new system and have been quite surprised at how much headroom there is. I have my i7 950 at 4.3 GHz with a Thermalright Venomous X RT cooler. I'm just curious as to what speeds others have pushed with their i7 900 series? What voltages are you guys using and what type of longevity impact is there on the i7 series running at higher voltages? Should I be expecting spontaneous freezes/crashes every now and then?

Those are blistering speeds. Nice job. I'm thinking about building a new system myself and I might actually go with i7 950 instead of i7 870.
What temperatures are you getting? What voltage are you using?

Thanks dude! I am at 4.3 GHz with the voltage sitting at 1.325V (bus speed of 196MHz and a multiplier of 22x). It's very stable. I am idling around 44 degrees Celsius and pushing 75 degrees under load.

I too was trying to decide between the equally priced i7 870 and i7 950. In the end, I chose the 950 for the triple channel memory and because it worked out to be a slightly cheaper deal with my motherboard combo. I am not sure if one overclocks better than the other. But the stock clocked power consumption on the 870 is superior to the 950, which might translate to better overclocks....not sure though. Perhaps others can offer their input?
