According to this link Intel is planning to release high performance Sandy Bridge CPU(s) in Q4. The upcoming performance CPU(s) will house 6 cores and quad-channel memory controller . There is going to be interesting competition between the 8-core Bulldozer and the 6-core Sandy Bridge at the end of the year.

Been hearing conflicting reports about whether LGA 1356 or LGA 2011 will be for enthusiast desktop owners, and whether 2011 is simply the new server socket, a la 1567.

I wonder how this would affect an Ivy Bridge launch (hopefully) the quarter after in Q1 2012.
