compiling a exe file/python

Postposted on Thu Apr 22, 2004 6:58 am

Hi

I have an open source game that is written in python and would really like to find a away to extract the contents, the game is a educational game and has a spelling mistake in it!

The game is installed on my computer and i have found out how to fix it after it has been installed,

Is there anyway of compressing the contents back into a .exe file after it has been edited,

The game is called childsplay.
And the spelling mistake is (Appel--apple)

Here is the link:http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/...32.exe?download

I am running windows xp.

Any help would be much appreciated,

They provide the source code on sourceforge. Just get the .tar.gz file. It contains the editable source.

EDIT: Also appel is a real word.

After you fix the typo yourself be sure to let the authors know as well :)

There was bug notices on sourceforge about it. Looks like there's been no development since 2002.

Yea, appel is more of a verb, not a red dangly thing.

help

Sweet i have downloaded the tar.gz file and peeled it apart,

Now i am new to programming with python but i am very keen to learn,

I have some back round knowledge in programming as i have been running CNC lathes and machining centers in engineering for the past 5yrs and i still love it!!

Program code sorta goes like this:

N01 G13
N02 G50 S2500

N03 G00 X900 Z900
N04 X60 Z20 T010101 M03 M08 G96 S180
N05 Z0
N06 G01X-.1.5F.25
N07 G00 Z2
N08 X58
N09 G01 Z-50 F.3
N10 G00 X59
N11 Z20
N12 M05
N13 M09
N14 M02

this programming can go very deep, i just can't be screwed at the mo as i have just finished working and my brain hurts.

We also use a lot of variables.

I have been playing around with the python idle.

and have a basic idea ,

Is there any really good start from scratch forums out there, as i've sort of been running around in circles a bit for the last week or so.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But back to the topic at hand,

I now have the project files for the childs play game, they have been edited and now i would like to know how i could compile it into a exe file so i can run it on another computers.

Any help would appreciated with the uttermost thank fullness.
