ASP + MySQL tutorials...

Sun Jan 09, 2005 2:36 pm

Hey guys,

OK, now I know its an odd couple, but heres the drill...

I learnt ASP and Perl back-end development with MS Access for databases at school, the thing is though, MS Access is not that great at all.

Now I know most of you guys will tell me to learn PHP, I just dont have the time though, to learn 2 new things as time is limited.

So I would rather learn MySQL now and PHP later.

So does anyone know where I can get tutorials that teach ASP to work with MySQL? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

:)

Here's the first one I found googling "ASP MySql tutorial" -- I'm sure there's more.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I have googled, and I have a few links (3 to be exact), inclcuding the one mentioned above by gerbil.

If anyone has some others it would be of great help, thanks again.

You might have better luck over on the Ars programmer's forum -- lots of .ASP folks (though many have moved on to asp.net) and lots of mysql users.

You can download an ODBC driver for MySQL from mysql.com. Once you have that installed and setup you should be able to treat it just as any other ODBC data provider from within ASP.

There is also this now:
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/net/1.0.html

But I've never tried that one.
