got an old ms dos disk, use debug.exe, it has an assembler built in

I thought of that, c, but it can only compile .com files, and has a file limit of 64kb.

You might look into the dev86 package that comes with various linux distros. It is a real mode 80x86 (that includes the original) assembly compiler and linker. Assuming you are working in the windows realm, you can most likely compile and run it under cygwin. Just a thought.

NASM has been around for years. It was recently open sourced and you can get it from here:
