Ok, so it's barely programming, but...
Looking into getting a CD to autoplay a video file that's on the CD whenever it's put into a computer with at least Windows 98 on it. From what I've seen, it's easy to use an autoplay.ini to call a specific application to play the video file, but is there a way to call the the video file by itself and let the OS decide which app to use when playing the video?

have you tried issuing the "start zie_video.avi" in autorun.ini? In the command prompt, you can "start something", whatever "something" is, and if it's a media file, the OS will decide what the hell to do with it.

If you are running XP, you dont even need the "start xxxx"
Just type in directly to the command prompt and windows will automatically detect it!
